The 1960's

Hey guys!

Great job last week posting about the Cold War!

This week, please post a comment about something from the 1960's. Start your post with something like "During the 1960's," and explain an event that occurred. Challenge yourself to expand more on your post.

As an extra bit of "fun," if you want, write a question to your classmates about 1960's. Be creative, but remember to stay school appropriate:-)

Also, take the poll on the side when you have a chance!

Good luck on the ACT. I'll be sending all of you my best of luck!

The Cold War - What a Strange Time!

Now that we have talked a bit about how goofy the Cold War was, please create a comment explaining some of the facts you have learned about the Cold War.

Everyone will share one fact about the Cold War by Friday, April 16. Please share your comment using complete sentences and thoughtfulness. Start your comment by saying something like, "What I learned about the Cold War is. . . "

It is important to read each person's post to make sure you don't repeat anyone's fact. You will be graded on the accuracy of your post and your level of understanding of the fact.

Happy Posting!

Jordan's Question

Hey Guys,

After finishing "White Light, Black Rain" today, Jordan had a great question:

How many people actually survived the atmoic bomb?

Well, when you search the Internet, it seems that no one is completly sure about how many people died in Hiroshima. However, here is what I found.

  • Many people believe there were about 300,000 people living in Hiroshima when the bomb exploded
  • About 70,000 died in the initial blast
  • By the end of 1945, about 100,000 people had died from other effects of the bomb
  • After 5 years, a total of 200,000 had died from lasting effects of the bomb

So Jordan, I'm thinking that there were about 100,000 survivors or Hiroshima.

Did anyone find anything different? Post a comment with your findings.

Let's Get Started!

Hey guys,

Welcome to our class blog! This will be a place for our class to communicate, share ideas, and ask questions about US History. We have a lot of fun things happening during 4th quarter and I want to make sure we all stay connected with the new topics we will be discussing.

Your first assignment will be to set up a google account and post a comment on this post. Keep your posts appropriate and to the point. Remember, this is part of your 4th quarter grade. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.
